Why we need this role

The primary responsibility of the role will be to support EU/UK VAT processes such as VAT returns preparation, handling statutory/ internal audit and reporting to internal and external customers. This role will be mainly focused on compliance but the right candidate will also have the opportunities to participate and assist with various on-going projects. The other key element of the role is interaction with cross-functional teams in FSSC and also dealing with multi-locational /cultural customers across Europe.

                                                                                    

What you will do

  • Prepare and submit in-house VAT returns in line with the relevant country’s VAT laws.
  • Review and approve VAT returns prepared by external advisors.
  • Carry-out monthly/ quarterly/ annual VAT cash flow variance analysis.
  • Support VAT manager with statutory/ internal VAT audits for Colt Group.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities in VAT compliance processes
  • Identify and timely escalate VAT potential risks identified during preparation and review of VAT compliance to the Reporting Manager.
  • Support VAT manager in ah hoc requests related to VAT compliance projects.
  • Assist VAT team with business queries (desirable but will be trained).
  • Support managing the relationship with external compliance providers.
  • Support managing communications with the relevant tax authorities.

What we're looking for

Typical tasks and responsibilities will include:

Must haves:

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in Tax Compliance (EU/UK VAT returns)
  • Must be able to work with a high deal of accuracy.
  • Analytical bend of mind.
  • Good written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills.
  • Should be able to relate to multi-cultural European customers.
  • Ability to work under significant pressure and commitment to meet stringent timelines.
  • Must possess the skills to work cross-functionally, identify best practices and ensure standardisation.
  • Keen to take up extra responsibilities.
  • Mind-set of excellent process execution and continuous improvement.
  • Good command of Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be inquisitive, open to learning and keen to pursue any opportunity for self-development.
  • Must have a collaborative approach and team work mindset.

Might haves:

  • Newly or Part qualified Chartered Accountant
  • Knowledge of Data Analytics tools such as PowerBI or Alteryx.
  • Curiosity about leveraging technology and AI tools to enhance VAT compliance, reporting and process efficiency
