Why we need this role
The Senior Engineer, Asia Network Engineering, is responsible for the technical planning, validation, introduction, expansion, optimization, and lifecycle management of network services and infrastructure across the Asia region. The role acts as the regional engineering lead for service and network development activities, ensuring that business requirements are translated into scalable, operationally ready network solutions under Packet IP, Ethernet and software define WAN technologies.
The position works closely with Product Management, Network Expansion, Service Delivery, Service Assurance, Sales, Architecture, and Operations teams to support the successful introduction of new services, network growth initiatives, network optimization programs, and customer opportunities while maintaining engineering standards and operational excellence.
What you will do
- Lead technical assessment, feasibility review, and validation of new products and services for the Asia network.
- Conduct POCs, ORT/UAT activities, and ensure operational readiness of new technologies and services. Develop and support delivery, operational, and deployment processes for new service introductions.
- Design and plan network expansion projects, including capacity growth, topology enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Produce engineering deliverables including BOMs, rack layouts, implementation designs, and procurement requirements.
- Drive network optimization, modernization, and technology exit programs through detailed technical and business assessments.
- Prepare migration, consolidation, and cost optimization plans while supporting implementation activities.
- Provide Tier 4 engineering support for complex network architecture issues and root cause investigations.
- Support Sales, Product, Service Delivery, and Operations teams with technical guidance, bespoke solutions, and customer opportunities.
- Deliver technical documentation, operational handovers, and training to ensure successful transition into service and support teams.
What we're looking for
Must haves:
- Business level Japanese skill
- Strong experience in carrier-grade IP and Ethernet networking technologies.
- Technical expertise in: IPv4 / IPv6, IS-IS/OSPF, BGP, VLAN, MPLS and segment routing
- Knowledge of MEF-based services including EPL, EVPL, and ELAN.
- Experience with service provider network design, testing, and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with Network Management Systems (NMS), inventory platforms, and network operational tools.
- Good knowledge of Cisco and Juniper products, including IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR, and JunOS.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Service Delivery, and Sales.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to translate business requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong customer focus and service-oriented mindset.Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.
- Effective collaboration across local teams in Japan, across Asia and global teams.
- Continuous learning mindset with passion for emerging networking technologies.
- Ability to balance technical depth with commercial and operational considerations.
Might haves:
- Industry certifications such as Cisco, Juniper or equivalent service provider certifications. (e.g. CCNA)
- Business-level English communication skills.
