Job Summary

Regulatory Analysts provide telecoms regulatory support, keep track of regional legislation, policy changes and industry regulations, and support on mitigation planning. They examine, evaluate, and investigate conformity with telecoms laws and regulations governing and perform other compliance and enforcement inspection and analysis activities. They also provide reports of analysis and communicate results of the analysis/investigations effectively and concisely to the wider team.

Job Description

Typical tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and submit mandatory regulatory reports and filings to telecom regulatory authorities and industry associations across Asia (Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea) as required.
  • Oversee telecom license renewals and ensure timely payment of associated fees in Asia.
  • Maintain and update a regulatory calendar to track mandatory filings, reporting deadlines, and license renewals.
  • Conduct research and analysis on telecom and related regulations as required.
  • Collaborate with internal (Product team, SD team) and external stakeholders and manage relationships on an ongoing basis as well as on a project-by-project basis.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the regulatory team.
  • Communicate results and progress clearly and concisely to the Head of Regulatory and Compliance (Asia).
  • Prepare and submit mandatory regulatory filings and reports to telecom regulators and industry associations in Japan and other Asian markets as needed.
  • Maintain and update regulatory calendars to track filing deadlines, license renewals, and compliance obligations.
  • Assist in monitoring regulatory developments in Asia (e.g., compliance rules, KYC requirements, interconnect and economic regulations).
  • Support analysis of telecom regulatory, policy, and market developments in Japan and other Asian countries to help inform Colt’s regulatory approach.
  • Assist in communicating relevant regulatory changes and compliance requirements clearly and promptly to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide research and administrative support to the Head of Regulatory and Compliance (Asia) and the wider team as required on regulatory matters.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support regulatory compliance and projects.
  • Contribute to the smooth functioning of the regulatory team by assisting with documentation, process improvements, and team coordination activities.
  • Develop knowledge of telecom regulations and Colt processes; proactively build skills to support career growth.

 

Role Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Fluent in Japenese and English (verbal and written)
  • 5+ years of regulatory and compliance experience
  • Data analysis experience
  • Experience using excel 
  • Strong attention-to-detail skill
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Proactive and positive mindset

 

Other Preferences

  • Prior experience in the telecommunications regulatory domain is highly desirable (either in consulting or in-house).
