Job Summary

Being part of the Inventory Team, the GIS Network Inventory Analyst II will be responsible to coordinate GIS activities related to the EMEA Network´s geographical and spatial information including, but not restricted to, its storage, analysis and presentation. The GIS Network Inventory Analyst II will ensure compliance with established data accuracy guidelines and will maintain quality assurance, safety and training requirements in the established geographical area of responsibility. The GIS Network Inventory Analyst II will act as EMEA Subject Mater Expert with regards to GIS database understanding and manipulation.

Job Description

  • Coordinate, oversees and complete GIS job-related tasks and projects, including daily new tasks assignment, weekly performance monitoring and escalations management.
  • Identify areas of chronic failure, gaps, communicate risks, impact, build improvement plans, policies and processes.
  • Own and manage complex / large GIS projects.
  •  Ensure quality GIS data pertaining to Lumen network is loaded and maintained in the corporative network inventory systems.
  • Undertake desk-based data capture (digitizing) to convert paper maps to GIS datasets.
  • Captures and updates spatial data and associated attributes. Create and maintain the structures necessary for GIS data storage e.g. manholes, polygons, splice closures, etc.
  • Provide ad hoc GIS support to stakeholders and/or management by collecting and analyzing inventory data and producing GIS output in the form of data or maps.
  • Proactive Sales and Operations support. Build a collaborative working relationship with our sales organization and Operations teams.
  • Agree, document & communicate Best Practices, through training, ongoing support and engagement.
  •  Support Inventory Improvement initiatives as agreed by Inventory Leader
  • Develop tools for loading/transferring GIS data between different systems.
  • Manipulate, analyze and present geographical information by creating programs to convert GIS information from one format to another.
  • Use tools to join different GIS datasets and create new information or investigate patterns.
  • Utilize Python, SQL, model builder scripting techniques for Web development and design products as well as creating bespoke stakeholder reports.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree. Field of Study: Geographical Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications or other related field.
  • Analytic skills – Intermediate required / Advance level (preferred)

GIS Skills required:

  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 10.3-10.4 software required
  • Data management skills to manage GIS data using ArcGIS.
  • Experience of general map creation and spatial analysis required
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD required.
  • Knowledge of ArcPy/Python required.
  • Previous experience of working with telecommunications network inventory, specifically Fibre Optic networks and GIS systems.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, model builder programming/scripting and reporting automations required.
  • Attention to detail to ensure a commitment to “right first time” approach to maintain a positive stakeholder experience.
  • Ability to analyse conflicting data to ensure that the appropriate action is taken.
  • Adaptable, dynamic, self-motivated team player with excellent organisation and follow-up skills and a capacity for multi-tasking across multiple systems and teams.
  • A knowledge of telecommunications would be advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience in managing projects and leading people is highly desirable
