Why we need this role

We are looking to cover an 18-month maternity leave with a specialist in employee relations and labor law to join our local HR team in France. This position is critical to ensuring compliance with complex labor regulations and maintaining strong relationships with employee representatives in a highly regulated environment.

The role will act as a trusted advisor to management, providing guidance on the legal implications of HR policies and decisions. It will also monitor legislative changes and ensure internal policies remain aligned with evolving requirements. A key responsibility is serving as the primary liaison with works councils, unions, and employee representatives, as well as leading negotiations on collective agreements and workforce-related matters.

What you will do

Typical tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure adherence to local and international labor laws and regulations.
  • Advise management on legal implications of HR policies and decisions.
  • Monitor legislative changes and update internal policies accordingly.
  • Act as the primary liaison with works councils, unions, and employee representatives.
  • Prepare and lead negotiations on collective agreements and workforce-related matters.
  • Support planning and execution of redundancies in compliance with legal requirements (Ruptures conventionnelles / Licenciements pour fautes.)
  • Coordinate with legal advisors and internal stakeholders to minimize risks and maintain employer reputation.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee relations issues and conflict resolution.
  • Contribute to HR projects related to organizational change and transformation.

What we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree level qualification and/or experience
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and best practice
  • A previous experience in social relations management is a plus
  • Robust, resilient, approachable and diplomatic with the confidence to deal with challenging senior leaders
  • A strong customer service mind set when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Capacity to deal with a wide range of stakeholders with conflicting priorities.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, influence and problem solving skills
  • Friendly and able to converse with people at any level
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly with respect to organisation, prioritisation, and time management.
