Position Summary: 
The role of a Cost Manager involves overseeing cost management for multiple projects with a focus on the United Kingdom. Working with local cost and project management teams reporting to our London head office, the role requires managing consultants to ensure accurate and timely cost information is provided to senior management and finance at Colt. It also involves ensuring best practice and governance are followed, and that Colt achieves value for money across major developments. The Cost Manager will also oversee customer project requirements and provide cost information to our sales teams for accurate pricing. This role is part of the central PMO, which controls project governance and standards. Collaboration with the existing Cost Manager is expected to drive and improve cost processes across the delivery team.
 

Job Summary

The Cost Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of cost for data centre projects. Working closely with a broad range of stakeholders, responsible for monitoring cost estimates, tracking and reporting on practice and identifying any potential cost-saving opportunities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
- Developing best cost practice, cost reporting, financial controls, and cost benchmarking within the PMO.
- Managing the commercial aspects of projects in Europe & Asia, overseeing internal and external consultants and general contractors.
- Negotiating and agreeing budgets and costs for variations in project scope.
- Checking project costs for accuracy and resolving any queries.
- Attending cost meetings, managing and liaising with various construction professionals to ensure timely completion of agreed actions.
- Producing and maintaining up-to-date records of change controls, variations, cashflows, and general cost information for all projects.
- Reviewing commercial tender returns and recommending order placements.
- Visiting sites to value completed works and validate consultant recommendations.
- Assessing contractor payment entitlement and overseeing the payment process internally at Colt.
- Carrying out reconciliations of cost and value to date/forecast to keep the management team informed of project performance.
- Training project managers in best cost management practices.
- Assisting in the guidance and development of junior staff.
- Handling other commercial matters as required.
