Job Summary

We are looking for a German qualified candidate to provide legal support to Colt DCS business focusing on the construction, development and operation of Data Centre projects in Germany (Frankfurt, Berlin and more) with a good understanding of commercial real estate acquisition and related commercial transactions such as building contracts, consultancy agreements, as well as interconnected agreements including commercial T&C for supplier agreements, relevant aspects of sales agreements. English business language fluency is essential.

 

The candidate will be part of a wider DCS legal team and regulatory experts based in Frankfurt. Candidates would be expected to work closely with the wider DCS legal team (headquartered in London) and local colleagues and to support Colt DCS Germany colleagues in the Development and Delivery Teams in each case building strong working relationships to ensure success. The role will also include liaising with customers, third party vendors and external counsel as well as with Funders based in the US and will report to the Senior Legal Counsel for Germany. The successful candidate will be ambitious, motivated and able to undertake significant responsibility.

 

Candidates should have strong experience in the property development sector with some experience of commercial real estate and commercial transactions desirable.

 

The role will be mainly focused in dealing with matters in Germany and/or in German language  but  there may also be some involvement in international projects and related business activities in connection with the ownership and operation of Data Centres, investor demands and refinancing /restructuring.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Support the drafting, review and negotiation of construction contracts (design and  build contracts, consultancy agreements, EPC contracts, Supplier’s Terms and Conditions..) and other commercial contracts (Commercial Terms and Conditions) needed for the operation of Data Center
Draft related contract reports for the business.
Develop systematic approach for compliance with all construction and other legal regulations and requirements.
Manage external counsel and relevant public authorities where necessary.
Arranging execution/completion of final form agreements.
Support for the company’s risk and audit team where required.
Conduct legal research and risk analysis where required.

Provide legal training sessions to wider business on legal topics relating to the region.

 

Key  Requirements

Holds a relevant professional legal qualification or law degree in Germany.
Previous relevant experience of 2 years minimum.
Fluent English required.
Strong academic background, legal knowledge and drafting skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and varied workload.
Experience in the property development sector desirable.
A team player, diligent and high attention to detail with ambition and drive to assume pivotal role with significant responsibility.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work with both local and international team members.
Ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and understandable way to stakeholders at all levels is a must.
