The Asset and Configuration Manager is responsible for managing the Data Centre assets and configurations throughout their lifecycle, ensuring optimal asset utilisation and adherence to security and compliance regulations.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive IT Asset and Configuration Management Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organisation's IT assets and configuration items to ensure accurate tracking, compliance, and optimization of resources.
 

OUTCOMES
Asset Management:
•    Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses
•    Ensure IT asset inventory reflects upstream and downstream dependencies.
•    Track asset/configuration item lifecycle from procurement to disposal.
•    Ensure compliance with asset management policies and procedures.
•    Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of IT assets.
•    Support implementation and management of the Colt DCS Logging and Monitoring Standard by ensuring appropriate monitoring levels are in place for the different categories of asset/configuration item.
Configuration Management:
•    Manage and maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
•    Ensure all assets/configuration items are accurately recorded and updated.
•    Monitor and control changes to assets/configuration items to maintain integrity and traceability.
•    Collaborate with IT teams to ensure configuration management processes are followed.
Reporting and Analysis:
•    Generate and analyse reports on asset and configuration management metrics.
•    Provide insights and recommendations for optimizing asset/configuration item utilization and reducing costs.
•    Support financial and budgetary planning related to assets/configuration items.
Compliance and Governance:
•    Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., ITIL, ISO).
•    Develop and maintain asset and configuration management policies and procedures.
•    Train and support staff on asset and configuration management best practices.
•    Support internal, external and customer audits as required.
THE TEAM
The Technology team comprises Demand, Applications, Infrastructure and Service Management.  You will be part of a wider organisation that includes Sales, Real Estate, Operations and Enterprise Support Functions.
Other key internal and external stakeholders include Major Build and Operations Lifecycle Design and Delivery Teams, Colt DCS and Colt Core Staff, Customers and Suppliers

THE SKILLS / EXPERTISE THEY BRING
Essential
•    Proven experience in IT asset and configuration management.
•    Strong knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices.
•    Proficiency in using asset management and CMDB tools.
•    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Experience with software asset management (SAM) tools.

Desirable
•    ITIL certification.
•    Experience with network and asset discovery tools.
•    Experience of data integration and management tools.
•    Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
