Role Purpose

This role is under the Project and Portfolio Delivery (PPD) team who works in partnership with the business to deliver projects and portfolios that drive Colt’s success. The Project Manager is responsible for providing quality assurance, reports and tools and leading the portfolios through all planning activities.

 

The PPD team is responsible for:

•    Process optimisation and re-engineering;
•    Business delivery and business acceptance of key strategic projects and programmes and training of the operational teams on new technologies;
•    The PPD team is organised into key business portfolios, each responsible for project delivery and process transformation;

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of medium/large sized projects, directing and counselling project team members, and advising customers/stakeholders as necessary on all phases.  Including creating and maintaining cost, resource and project plans
•    Responsible for maintaining effective financial and project progress forecasting, and reports as appropriate
•    Monitors and controls allocated human and material resources, associated revenue costs and all costs against the project budget
•    Ensures that a change control procedure is in place for the project(s), and actively used to assess the effect of changes to the projects on costs, timescale and/or resource needs and reports these to project sponsors & stake holders
•    Ensures that projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and appropriate action taken
•    Builds and manages a virtual team from various geographies and engages teams/contacts from across Colt and vendors as required 
•    Ensures all key PM (Project Manager) documentation is developed and maintained,  using defined project management methodologies and company standard processes,  including PID/Project Brief, Project Plan, Risk, and Issues register, weekly reports, stakeholder reports, Lessons learned etc. The project managed could be part of a larger program managed by a program manager and the documentation requirements would be customised as per the program requirements
•    Set up and manage project governance, including decision forums (Governance framework) and lead on steering calls with project sponsor
•    Identify and track project success factors and operational KPIs  
•    Conduct a post implementation review, complete all project close documentation, ensures any outstanding post project close issues have been logged with owners in the RAID
•    Work with the Financial Business partner to review project benefits and provide a mechanism to track them post project completion

 

Role Requirements

Skills and Qualifications
•    Proven experience as a Project Manager managing multiple projects
•    Direct experience of working in a structured project environment
•    Delivery of projects in an IT business environment
•    Demonstrable business and financial understanding
•    Effective communication (verbal, written, listening) presentation and management reporting skills 
•    Personal drive, highly self-motivated and self-organised
•    Excellent team player and ability to work in an international team 
•    Fluent in both Japanese and English (written and spoken)
•    Demonstrable ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly

 

Desirable [skills, experience, qualifications]
•    Experience in business transformation is desirable
•    Knowledge of IT stack build and OSS structure
•    APM (Association for Project Management), PRINCE2, Agile or other industry recognised project management qualification  
•    Worked in a virtual team across various time zones and geographies 
•    Worked in a Telco, IT or Technology transformation organisations 
•    Up to speed on latest industry and market developments & technology
