Role purpose

This role is in Infrastructure Engineering Team with in the operations and engineering function. This role would contribute to deliver the Network design, migration methods, network discovery, analytics, infra implementation for various Network transformation initiatives for all network domains in the Colt network.

This role will have deeper engagement in the development and execution of the strategies for core network build and transformation projects e.g. Node programme, Technical site consolidation, Exits, Optimization EoL, Network Life Cycle and Core infrastructure implementation capability. The role is required for the technical planning, detailed preparation, job packs and co-ordination of technology and service migrations between network sites.

Key accountabilities

  • Driving the preparation of business cases, setting the financial justification and obtaining approval from the key stakeholders

  • Network Analytics, technical design and implementation for network transformation programs e.g. Node programme, TDM EoL, Network Life Cycle, Migrations etc.

  • Deliver Network discovery and service analytics methods and database, aligned with network life cycle management for longer term Network strategy

  • Technical migration planning and preparation, produce migration Job packs as required

  • Co-ordinate tasks and resources to deliver planned service migrations to schedule

  • Responsible for migration of Offnet Services as defined by the Offnet Program Manager

  • Provide input to technical migration manager or produce migration approaches aligned to technologies and specific node sites.

  • Provide input to technical Migration Manager or produce node migration project plans

  • Provide regular delivery progress reporting as per project and programme requirements, including cost breakdowns and summaries

  • Maintain migration quality (right first time)

  • Manage workflows for technical migration planning and execution of migration activities, covering network infrastructure and customer service migrations

  • Process development

  • Automation and simplification

 

Skills & Experience

•    6-8 years’ experience in a telco service provider environment, planning/configuring/documenting network assets and inventory.
•    Demonstrate awareness/exposure to vendor equipment: WDM(Ciena / Infinera / ADVA), Ethernet, IP(Cisco/Ciena/Nokia/Juniper), Voice (DMS, EWSD)
•    Experience of planning and delivering network service migrations within a live network environment
•    Domain expertise (Networks, IP and Voice). Knowledge of the key technologies and architectures deployed in the Colt network (Infinera LDN, NSN MSP, M-MSP, IP etc.)
