Role Purpose


Joining our Tax Team with a solid understanding of the various transactional tax heads (Indirect and Direct Tax) and able to understand the various tax related touchpoints in finance processes. On the role, your primary responsibility will be to support EU/UK VAT processes such as VAT returns preparation, handling statutory/ internal audit and reporting to internal and external stakeholders. With a great attention to detail, you'll have the mission to enhance your compliance knowledge being willing to learn and support our business in meeting the regulatory obligations.


Key accountabilities


  • Prepare/ submit/ support external advisor in submission of VAT returns/compliance for the assigned countries.
  • Carry-out monthly/ quarterly/ annual variance analysis.
  • Handle statutory/ internal audit and support VAT audits.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and timely escalate potential issues to the Reporting Manager.
  • Support such other projects as may be assigned from time to time.

Role specific requirements


  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in Tax Compliance (EU/UK VAT returns)
  • Must be able to work with a high deal of accuracy.
  • Analytical bend of mind.
  • Good written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills.
  • Should be able to relate to multi-cultural European customers.
  • Ability to work under significant pressure and commitment to meet stringent timelines.
  • Must possess the skills to work cross-functionally, identify best practices and ensure standardisation.
  • Keen to take up extra responsibilities.
  • Mind-set of excellent process execution and continuous improvement.
  • Good command of Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be inquisitive, open to learning and keen to pursue any opportunity for self-development.

It would be desirable:

  • Newly qualified Chartered Accountant.
  • 2-3 years of work experience in either firm or industry handling VAT returns (preferably EU/UK VAT returns) and related VAT compliance.
  • Knowledge of Data Analytics tools such as PowerBI or Alteryx.
