Role purpose

At Colt, we are changing the perception of our business and industry sector. As part of this transformation, we are growing new services and teams to facilitate and drive the business to the next level. To work on designing non-standard solutions for our customers in Europe and ensuring signoffs from operations on the design. Also, support operations during the implementation of the design. End-to-end ownership of the project, which includes Solution Design, testing, sign-offs, and implementation. Testing predominantly on Optical services as per project requirements.

Key accountabilities

  • Translates customer requirements into functional design aligned with Colt’s value propositions.
  • Acts as a single point of contact for Solutions Architect / Sales on projects involving multi-domain components.
  • Pre-sales Solution Design on Optical colt products and technologies.
  • Develops innovative and cost-effective solutions to address a variety of business problems across own area/projects
  • Post-sales, Detailed designs, and implementation support to service delivery on above colt products and technologies
  • Leading complex multi-technology projects on Managed Networking and other domains.
  • Design of customer optical network (new & existing) for all colt countries. Customer network might include existing infrastructure spanning across multiple technologies (SDH, MSP, OTN/FC/CWDM/DWDM, etc) or multiple vendors making this role more interesting and challenging.
  • Leading Proof of Concept testing on multi-technology projects where Optical is the predominant part of the solution.

 

Role Specific Requirement

Skills

  • Exposure to one or many of the switches/boxes like Overture ISG, Accedian GT/LTS, NSN/Atrica, Cisco, Cyan, JuniperMx, Alcatel Lucent, etc.
  • Technical knowledge of Carrier-Ethernet/VLAN/G.8032 (Layer2) networks
  • Good understanding of COS/QoS/traffic policies/filters/bridging

Experience

  • 7 + years’ experience in Solution Design & test laboratories for Layer-2 hardware of telecommunications infrastructure. Must have 4-5 years of relevant experience working in Solution Design and Testing with Optical technologies.
  • Networking technology areas within the overall professional experience.
  • The ability to understand and test at the network level is a must. Should have hands-on on transmission hardware in previous/current job.
  • Acclaimed specialist in own area with in-depth knowledge of Optical Platform /protocols (i.e. Familiarity with multiple Vendor systems like Infeneria/Ciena/Adva etc and OTN/FC/CWDM/DWDM Services).
  • Experience with using traffic generators (Omniber/ANT-xx/Field HH tester (MTT/STT/VeEX)/Spirent)
  • Domain knowledge, preferably within a telecom company, system integrator, or global telecom product supplier. 
  • Experience in evaluating the network performance, and its associated parameters is a must.

Qualification

  • B.E. in Electronics and Communication/Telecommunications/Computer Science
  • CCNA
